People come to Bahia because of all there is to do here.  Among the most enjoyed activities are:

Water Sports – The big draws are fishing, diving, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, and island-hopping.  The waters in the bay are teeming with fish, whales, dolphin, whale sharks, and sea lions.  The skies are constantly filled with seagulls, pelican, turkey vultures, kites, kestrels, and sea eagles.  The gulf itself is the big draw for Bahia.

The Beaches – The Villa is located on a miles-long sandy beach, and perfect for soaking up the sun and sea air.  There is a large palapa exclusively for guest use at the water’s edge.  Bring your dog!  They love to go on walks on the beach, as will you.  There are a lot of remote beaches where shelling and clamming can be done.  You can gather enough clams in a few minutes for a delicious evening meal.

Banks-$$special note$$- There are no banks or ATMs within three hours of here so bring sufficient cash for your needs.

Restaurants – The town, though small (around 700) has several fine Mexican restaurants that provide wonderful cooking at a reasonable price.  Some specialize in seafood, all are fun to visit.

Museum – There is a very highly rated museum in town, with exhibits of history, anthropology, geology, and mineralogy that is very surprising in quality and breadth for such a small town.  It has a lecture hall where talks are given, and movies shown.

The Turtle Farm -  Bahia is an ecological treasure, often called “the Galapagos of Mexico.”  The giant sea turtles are facing extinction in the gulf, but this farm which grows and releases turtles, and nurtures sick or wounded turtles back to health, represents a ray of hope for the future of these gentle giants.

Mision San Borja – One of the best preserved of all the original Baja missions, it is only a two hour drive from the Villa through beautiful pristine and untouched desert.  A ‘must’ for those that want to see a beautifully preserved ancient building.

The Valle de Cirios -  The surrounding desert offers many adventures for the person who knows a little about fossil hunting or how to find semi-precious stones.  There are old abandoned gold mines, lush palm canyons, and a host of flora and fauna, some, like the cirio, found nowhere else in the world.
